What we collect
As you browse and shop with us, we may collect a few different kinds of information:
- Details you give us directly, such as your name, contact details and delivery or billing address
- A record of your orders, returns and any messages you exchange with our team
- Technical and browsing information such as your IP address, browser version and how you move around our site
- Information gathered through cookies and similar technologies
How we use it
We use the information we hold for a number of purposes:
- Processing and delivering your orders and handling payments
- Providing customer support and answering your questions
- Keeping you updated on your order and anything relevant to it
- Sending marketing emails, where you have asked us to
- Protecting the security and smooth running of our website
- Improving the experience of shopping with us
- Detecting and preventing fraud or suspicious activity
We only process your information where we have a lawful reason to do so: because it is necessary to fulfil your order, because we have a legitimate interest such as keeping the site secure, because you have given consent, or because the law requires it.
How payments are handled
Every transaction on this website is processed securely through Shopify and its payment partners. We never store your full card details, and all sensitive payment information is handled by our payment providers. See our Payment Policy for more.
Who we share it with
To keep the business running, we share certain information with trusted partners. That can include:
- Companies that process payments on our behalf
- Courier and logistics partners who handle your deliveries
- The manufacturing partners who make and dispatch your order
- Tools and platforms we use to communicate with customers
- Providers who host and maintain our website
These partners only handle your information to carry out their role, and are required to keep it secure. We may also share information where the law requires it, or where we need to protect our rights. We never sell or rent your personal information.
Sending information overseas
We are based in the Netherlands, and your order information is also shared with our manufacturing and fulfilment partners overseas so that your order can be made and posted to you. Some of our service providers, such as Shopify, may process information in other countries. Where information leaves Australia, we take reasonable steps to make sure it is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles, and transfers within our own supply chain are covered by an appropriate safeguard such as an adequacy decision or EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Cookies
We use cookies to keep the website working properly, understand how visitors use the site and remember your preferences. You can adjust cookie settings in your browser, though parts of the site may not work as intended if you disable them.
Marketing emails
If you join our email list, we will send you new arrivals and occasional offers, usually about twice a month. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also email us at any time to be removed.
Your rights
When it comes to your personal information, you have the right:
- To access the information we hold about you
- To have inaccurate or incomplete information corrected
- To ask us to delete your information, subject to any legal obligation we have to keep it
- To restrict or object to how we use it
- To data portability
- To withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on it
- To unsubscribe from marketing messages whenever you like
To exercise any of these, email hello@maeandcase.com. We may ask you to confirm your identity, and we will respond within a reasonable time and no later than one month. If you are ever unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au, or to the Dutch Data Protection Authority, Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, at autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl.
Keeping your information safe
Protecting your information is something we take seriously. We have practical technical and organisational measures in place to guard against unauthorised access or misuse. While we do everything reasonable, no online platform can promise absolute protection.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only for as long as it is genuinely needed, whether that is to complete an order, meet a legal or tax requirement, or resolve a dispute. Once it is no longer necessary, we dispose of it securely.
Children
This store is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
